Expression Array Data GENOMAX
3.3 Expression Data Import NOTE: The accessory programs mentioned in this document are available only for the IBM PCs at this time. If you normally use an Apple Macintosh to access GenoMax, you will need to obtain access to a PC to be able to upload your expression data. Once the data is uploaded using the GenoMax client programs, it can then be accessed from Apple
Macs. Your data file names should be in the following format -
“[what_ever_name_you_want]_PivotData.txt” for the data file (_ is recommended before word PivotData).
“[what_ever_name_you_want]_AnalysisData.txt” for the data file (_ is recommended before word
AnalysisData).
1. Overview of the Scheme Builder and expression data import
-
Expression data can be imported from the front-end using the “expression importer” by
the end-user in GenoMax v.3.3
-
Import through the expression importer takes as input a data file for import and a “scheme” file.
-
A Scheme is a file (analogous to a filter) that dictates to GenoMax where to find the information to import into GenoMax from a given file format (for instance Affymetrix Pivot tab files).
-
Many commonly used data formats have Schemes already built for them that are installed by the Windows Components program (see below).
2. Getting Started
-
Installing Windows components: A new version of
GenoMax client tools is available with upgrade of GenoMax v.3.3 and can be downloaded from the main GenoMax page.
-
This installation needs to be done on the client PC used only once.
You can choose to run the program “GenomaxClientTools.exe” from its server location or save it to your local hard disk. Remember the location where the file is saved.
Locate and run the self-executable to install the GenoMax accessory programs on your local PC. A new program group called “GenoMax client tools” will be created in the “Start
-> Programs “ menu hierarchy after completion of the installation.
The programs by default are installed in the following location (unless you choose an alternate path) “C:/Program Files/Informax”. The schemes and sample files are in the folder “Schemes” inside the folder “Informax”.
To access the “Expression Importer” and “Scheme Builder” utility programs go to “Start”
-> Programs -> Genomax Client Tools program group.
